Rules for video games

  • The teams must consist of one to five people.
  • Games may be put together using any platform (Mac, iPhone, Windows, Flash, etc.). The important thing is that you will be able to perform a demonstration to the team of judges.
  • The teams may use any tools they like, including either open source or proprietary software and frameworks, and may use the language of their choice. Emphasis is placed on creativity and accessibility, not technology. Examples: Xna, Blender 3D, Adobe Flash, Adobe Flex, C++, Java, Eclipse IDE, GameMaker, Box2D, Javascript, HTML 5, Flixel, Cocos 2D for iPhone, etc. The teams may use audio clips that have been recorded prior to the start of the competition as long as they are available under a Creative Commons licence or a similar licence permitting redistribution and sampling.
  • All graphic elements integrated into the games must be designed during the competition.
  • Each team must insert an image provided by Bivouac Urbain and its partners at the beginning of the game. This image will be provided to the competitors at the beginning of the competition, in .JPG format.
  • Each team must pledge not to inappropriately use copyrighted material during the competition.

Rules for animated short films

  • The teams must consist of one to four people.
  • The films must not last longer than 3 minutes.
  • The films must not be shorter than 30 seconds.
  • The teams may use any tools they like.
  • The teams may use audio clips that have been recorded prior to the start of the competition as long as they are available under a Creative Commons licence or a similar licence permitting redistribution and sampling.
  • The main element of the film must consist of digital content. The films may use real images showing 2D or 3D characters that have been designed using a computer.
  • All of the main graphic elements that are integrated into the films must be designed during the competition. Minor visual elements may be borrowed from external sources. You must clearly tell the judges which elements were not designed during the competition.
  • Each team must insert an image provided by Bivouac Urbain and its partners at the beginning of the film. This image will be provided to the competitors at the beginning of the competition, in .JPG format.
  • Each team must pledge not to inappropriately use copyrighted material during the competition.
  • Although the film compilations may be launched after the end of the competition, you will not be able to modify your film any further.

Rules for concept art

  • This is a solo competition.
  • You will need to create one or more artworks based on the given theme. All artworks must be designed on a computer.
